Teen Mentorship: Nothing about us without us

Teen mentors give support to teens in our programs as well as give feedback to Antelope leadership about our programming. Peer mentors are teens who have completed the Core Antelope Group, have received our mentorship training, and are passionate about helping their peers work through their struggles. Every teen who is registered for our teen groups has access to a peer mentor!

Bonus! Parent Support

Parenting teens can be tough. Here are three optional (and super effective) ways you can improve your home life with your teen, while your teen is engaged in group!
Parent Call #1
This call is for parents whose teens DO NOT want to attend these groups. We'll discuss ways to work with teen resistance.
September 19th, 12:00pm-1:30pm MT
Parent Call #2
Parent Q/A - what situations are hard for you with your teen? Get support on ways you can respond to your teen's outrageous or confusing behavior.
October 24th, 5:00-7:00pm MT
Receive 50% off our parent program if you sign up your teen for a group!

Can my teen attend more than one group?
Of course! These groups are all very different, and provide a healthy, engaged community for teens. We have teens who are in one group, and we have teens who are in multiple.
What if my teen doesn't want to go?
Tell your teenager they only need to attend the first class, and if they hate it, they don't have to come back. It is our job to deeply impact them during the first group and leave them wanting to return.
This is not therapy or a mandatory class - it is a by choice program. Even though most teens come in the first day "forced" by their parents, rolling their eyes with dread, nearly all of them decide to come back.
Why are the groups online?
Online groups are more accessible than in-person groups! We are able to work with kids all over the country online who otherwise would not be able to receive support. Online support allows teens to access the help they need without having to rely on parents driving them, fear of running into someone they know in an office or managing the infinite excuses that come up on the way to a group.
Online communities are powerful and can create a strong experience of belonging and connection for teens.
That being said, two of the Antelope groups are hosted live in Boulder, Colorado. We have two live groups so that we can work with a variety of families and address a variety of different needs!
What supplies are required for the art group?
We will send an email out to parents before the art group starts with a list of supplies. The supplies will be less than $100.
What does Alateen mean?
Alateen comes out of the AA and 12-step community. It is for teens who have a parent, family member, or close friend who is in active addiction. Addiction strongly affects everyone who is in the teen's life! Alateen will support your teen in making sense of what addiction is, how it works, and the ways it is affecting them. The education and support from this group are phenomenal in helping a teen make sense of the complex dynamics that come with addiction.
Do I need to believe in god to go to NA?
Our groups are open to everyone regardless of their religious or spiritual beliefs. We do encourage teens to keep an open mind and to develop a relationship with something bigger than themselves - such as nature, love, truth, the universe, animal life, or even rain.

Is this right for my teen?

If your teen is struggling to create meaningful and easeful relationships in their life, then YES this program is for your teen.

Your teen will walk away with a brand new community and support toolkit, whether they were 100% scoffing and eye rolling about attending a group or not.

The bottom line is that your teen wants to be happy and healthy, and these skills can support them in finding their way.
